Never Alone

And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
— Deuteronomy 31:8

Sometimes it seems as though you are all alone in your struggles.  As if you were an island in a vast deep ocean of darkness and wave after wave keeps coming with no end in site. We may feel as though we are drowning and want to give up.  Sadly, many do.  They choose to take their own life.  Some call it the easy way out.  I disagree.  I don't believe for a moment that suicide is easy.  Sometimes people ponder, even agonize, for months or years before they finally act on it.

I want you to know that you are not alone. You are never alone.  If you put your faith in Christ, allow the Holy Spirit to take up residence in your heart, you will never be alone.  Many great people of the bible considered dying over going on.

  • Elijah
  • Jonah
  • Jeremiah
  • Job

They all wanted to die at one time in their life.  They wanted to give up. But God wouldn't allow it.  He encouraged each of them and they all went on to do great things for God.  Moses even wanted to throw in the towel.

And Moses said unto the LORD, Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favour in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me? Have I conceived all this people? have I begotten them, that thou shouldest say unto me, Carry them in thy bosom, as a nursing father beareth the sucking child, unto the land which thou swarest unto their fathers? Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat. I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me. And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in thy sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.
— Numbers 11:11-15

God had a different plan.  Moses felt as though the whole world was on his shoulders alone.  It was unbearable and he felt as though he could not go on and asked to be killed.  Notice what happened next.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee. And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.
— Numbers 11:16-17
  1. Seventy men were summoned.
  2. God came down to talk to him
  3. God spread the burden

There is a valuable life lesson to be learned here.  I will sum it up with these 3 points

  1. Seek the company of believers
  2. Seek the counsel of God
  3. Share your burdon

Remember, if you are a believer, you have His spirit in you.  To guide you, to comfort you, to help you, and to Love you.
